Congratulations to Kemper Systems and K Pendlebury and Sons whose recent works on the BAP remedial project for the National Museum of Liverpool was selected as a finalist in the LRWA Awards 2018, Liquid waterproofing project of the year. (Due to BAP’s association with the project, BAP Partner Roger Jowett, who was a member of the Liquid Roofing judging panel did not take part in the selection or voting for the waterproofing section of the awards).
Works included the use of a polyurethane system to waterproof the original concrete slab underneath, after the removal of the original steps, terrace paving and waterproofing membrane. To support the replaced steps, a complex steel support system was put in place, which bolted to the new waterproofed concrete slab.
The project was completed in challenging weather conditions while the museum remained fully open to the public.
