Vibration

Our vibration work is concerned mainly with the measurement, assessment and control of  vibration from overground and underground railways, from construction and demolition activities and from building services plant and equipment. We assess vibration by field measurement and model the transmission of vibration using ANSYS software. We assess the results against current British and International Standards concerned with human response to vibration and building damage. We also compute the noise radiation resulting from vibration and this is often the key factor in determining whether vibration isolation measures will be necessary and the performance requirements of a vibration isolation system.

We frequently assess residential sites close to railway lines or underground tunnels and advise on any measures measures necessary to control vibration to within acceptable limits. This may involve isolating new-build structures using isolation springs or pads, or introducing box-in-box constructions into existing buildings.
