Blast from the past – 1970s Acoustic equipment

During our office reorganisation, we came across a Sound Level Meter and Outdoor Microphone unit from the 1970’s! The second photograph is of a former BAP Acoustician working with the Sound Level Meter and with other acoustic equipment, from that era. Back then the task required a reel to reel tape recording and post processing back in the office. Today it can be undertaken by remotely accessing the meter (such as the one shown between the units from the 1970s) on site and processing the results on a computer.

It will be exciting to see the future technological developments in Acoustic Engineering which tomorrow’s engineers will be at the forefront of. And whether beards are back in fashion in another 40 years.
