Bickerdike Allen Partners were appointed to design and submit a detailed planning application for this challenging site in the Cotswolds. The design is essentially a courtyard house, but recessed into the landscape.
In order to address the Local Authority’s concern regarding the proposed development in an conservation area and to maintain clear site lines of the adjoining listed buildings, the house is to be subterranean. The scheme was granted planning consent in Spring 2015.
The development will create 3,000 sq.ft of accommodation arranged around a sunken landscaped courtyard. This allows the bedrooms and living rooms views and direct access to this external area.
The new “roof” will create a new garden space at ground level with new planting and trees.
