As part of the school’s on-going development plan, to ensure that it offers its students the best available teaching resources, Bickerdike Allen Partners (BAP) are currently undertaking a comprehensive review of the senior school site in St Albans. The school lies within the St Albans Conservation Area and includes a number of building styles and types, a number of which are locally listed.
Works completed include extensive refurbishment of the Swimming Pool and Sports Hall roofs. Current projects include the redevelopment of the Sixth Form Centre, the redevelopment of the former School Hall to enhance the Science facilities, redevelopment of the admin building and the construction of new multi-use artificial grass surface for recreational use and sports practice.
The enhancement of the Science facilities maximises the potential space within the footprint of the existing School Hall to minimise the impact of development within the conservation area. The proposal includes the provision of large flexible spaces that can adapt and evolve to cater for the future needs of the school, as well as provide an exciting learning environment that stimulates the mind.
